How much does OurFamilyWizard cost? Plans, fee waivers, and what its records prove
- OurFamilyWizard is not free. Plans on its website run from $110 to $299.88 a year per parent, billed annually or every two years.
- Each parent needs their own subscription, though one parent may pay for the other.
- A fee waiver gives free or discounted plans to parents who qualify, and military families get the second subscription free.
- There is no free trial. First-time purchases on the website can be refunded within 30 days.
- Messages cannot be edited or deleted. No app is court approved, and whether its records are admitted is the judge’s decision.
How much does OurFamilyWizard cost?
Between $110 and $299.88 a year for one parent, depending on the plan. Four plans, priced per parent, on OurFamilyWizard’s website:
- Entry plan, from $9.17 a month: $110 billed annually, or $220 every two years. The basic tools, 1 GB of storage, calls you can receive but not place, and payments as an optional add-on.
- Essentials, $12.50 a month: $149.99 a year, or $276 for two years. Adds 45 call minutes a month, the Writing Assistant, schedule and trade requests, expense tracking, in-app payments, GPS-verified check-ins, unlimited PDF records and 5 GB of storage. OurFamilyWizard labels it the most popular plan.
- Premium, $18 a month: $216 a year, or $396 for two years. Adds unlimited calling, event import, unlimited storage, unlimited payments, and unlimited certified records, which are notarized, printed and mailed.
- Max, $24.99 a month: $299.88 a year, or $551.76 for two years. Adds call recordings and transcriptions, with the choice of whether calls are recorded left to you.
There is no month-to-month option on the website. The monthly figures are the yearly price divided by twelve, and the two-year plans bring each one down slightly. Figures verified on 9 October 2026.
For two parents on Essentials, the household total is about $300 a year. That is the number to plan around, because OurFamilyWizard charges each parent separately.
Is OurFamilyWizard free?
Not for parents, unless you qualify for the fee waiver or the military offer below.
Some accounts are free. OurFamilyWizard says third-party accounts for other family members, child accounts and professional accounts can be added at no extra cost. Attorneys, mediators and therapists can be given access to view activity and download records without paying. The paying is done by the two parents.
Who qualifies for the OurFamilyWizard fee waiver?
A parent who meets one of four conditions, according to OurFamilyWizard’s fee waiver page:
- receiving certain government assistance
- proof of indigence, or in forma pauperis status
- receiving free legal representation
- experiencing domestic or intimate partner violence while working with a qualified professional
Supporting documents are required, and OurFamilyWizard says most applications are approved automatically through an identity verification service. A waiver can mean a free or a discounted subscription.
Military families have a separate offer. If either parent is active duty, retired military or a veteran, one subscription is paid and the second is free. It needs an application with a DD-214 or current orders.
Do both parents have to pay for OurFamilyWizard?
Usually, yes. OurFamilyWizard’s pricing FAQ says each parent has a separate account and needs their own subscription, and the two accounts are linked in a private family space.
One parent may pay for the other, which is worth knowing if your order splits the cost or puts it on one side. Check what your order says before you buy. TalkingParents also charges each parent separately, while 2houses charges once for the whole family.
Is there a free trial or a refund?
There is no free trial. What OurFamilyWizard offers instead is a refund window.
Its refund policy says a first-time purchase on the website can be refunded in full within 30 days. Renewals, upgrades and premium features are not refundable. Plans bought through Google Play or the App Store follow the store’s own refund process instead, and Google’s window is 48 hours.
If you are not sure you will keep it, buy on the website, where the 30-day window applies.
What features does OurFamilyWizard offer?
Messaging, scheduling, money and records, in one account per parent:
- Messages: a thread between the two parents that shows when each message was first viewed.
- ToneMeter and Writing Assistant: ToneMeter flags emotionally charged language before you send, and the Writing Assistant suggests a calmer version.
- Calendar and trade requests: the parenting schedule, events, and requests to swap time.
- Expenses and payments: shared costs logged and paid through the app.
- Check-ins: GPS-verified check-ins that show a parent was at an exchange location.
- Calls: calls placed through the app, with recording and transcription on the Max plan.
- Moments: notes and photos, kept for yourself or shared with the other parent.
- Records: PDF reports, and on the higher plans certified printed records.
Can messages on OurFamilyWizard be deleted?
No. OurFamilyWizard says messages can never be edited, deleted or retracted once they are sent.
That cuts both ways, and it is the main reason attorneys tell parents to write every message as if a judge will read it.
“Judges, Guardians ad Litem, and attorneys don’t just look at what you said. They look at how you said it, how often conflict shows up, and how you handle frustration when things don’t go your way.”
A thread nobody can edit keeps a bad day as faithfully as a good one. Short, specific and about the child is the habit that reads well months later.
How do OurFamilyWizard records work in court?
Through reports, and through business records affidavits on request.
OurFamilyWizard says its reports for professionals can include login history, message histories with read receipts, parenting time, schedule change requests, expenses, journal entries, check-ins and call history. A parent, or a professional with access to the account, can ask its support team for a business records affidavit, which is mailed once it has been paid for.
The value of a record like this is mostly about dates. Screenshots of ordinary text messages often show only a relative day, which is a weak way to prove when something was sent.
“A text message that shows it was sent “today,” “yesterday,” or “Wednesday” (as the recent text messages on my phone currently show) is problematic at trial if one needs to prove when it was actually sent.”
A dated, unedited record solves that problem for what passes between the two parents. Whether it is admitted, and how much weight it gets, is still for the judge. Our guide to what holds up in family court covers the general authentication question. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is OurFamilyWizard court approved?
No app is court approved, OurFamilyWizard included.
Courts do not certify or endorse software. What happens is that a judge orders both parents to use a named platform, which makes it mandatory in that case. OurFamilyWizard says it has been ordered in all 50 states, which describes orders made in individual cases, not a rule any court has adopted. Ask your attorney what your court expects.
What are the pros and cons of OurFamilyWizard?
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Widely named in parenting orders, by its own account in every state | No free plan and no free trial |
| Fee waiver, and a free second subscription for military families | Billed yearly or every two years, with no month-to-month option on the website |
| Messages cannot be edited or deleted, and show when they were first viewed | Each parent pays, so a household spends about $300 a year on Essentials |
| Free accounts for professionals, children and other family members | Refunds only on a first website purchase, within 30 days |
| Detailed reports and business records affidavits | Records what passes between households, not your ordinary days |
How does OurFamilyWizard compare with other parenting apps?
More expensive than most, and widely written into orders.
TalkingParents is the app most often set against it, and our OurFamilyWizard vs TalkingParents comparison goes through the two side by side, with our TalkingParents review covering its plans in detail. AppClose offers a lower monthly price, and coParenter builds a mediator into the subscription. Our AppClose review and coParenter review cover those, and the full comparison of parenting apps puts them all together.
What does no shared parenting app record?
The ordinary day inside one household.
Every feature above starts with something passing between two accounts: a message, a trade request, a payment, a check-in at an exchange. That is the design and it works. But an evening where you collect your daughter from school, cook dinner and read with her before bed produces none of those, because the other household was not involved.
Most of what a custody decision turns on is made of days like that one, and a shared account was never built to hold them.
Documented covers the other half. A short dated entry about your own day, sealed and independently timestamped by an outside authority under RFC 3161 rather than by us, so the proof of when it was written does not rest on our word or our continued existence. Use it alongside whichever app your order names.
