How a client connects to you
Your client downloads Documented and logs pickups, exchanges, calls, expenses, and incidents on their own phone, as they happen. It works solo, the other parent is never involved or notified.
One connection, made with your email address. Nothing for you to set up per client and no account for them to manage on your side.
Entries arrive encrypted to your key. Read them in order, open any single entry, and export the whole record when you need it.
Why the record is verifiable
Every entry carries an RFC-3161 timestamp issued by DigiCert, not by us, and not by the phone's clock. Only a hash of the entry leaves the device to obtain it.
Entries are hash-chained. Editing or deleting an earlier entry breaks the chain, and the break is visible in the export rather than hidden.
The export ships with its audit trail, so the chain can be checked by someone who doesn't trust Documented, including opposing counsel.

The questions attorneys actually ask
It's a one-sided record, doesn't that cut against my client?
It's a journal, not a joint log, and the product doesn't pretend otherwise. What it establishes is narrower and harder to dispute: the entries were written when they say they were, and haven't been revised since. Whether a contemporaneous record helps in a given matter is your judgment. Documented's job is to make sure it can't be waved away as something assembled the week before a hearing.
Is it discoverable?
Assume yes and advise your client accordingly. We don't offer a view on privilege or discoverability in your jurisdiction, that's your call, not a software vendor's. What we can tell you precisely is what exists: the entries your client wrote, the timestamp on each one, and the chain that links them.
The client-facing version of this answer is at is my custody journal discoverable. It tells them to assume the record is producible, explains that on-device storage and encryption are not privileges, and tells them not to delete anything and to bring it to you. Written so it does not contradict what you will tell them.
What happens if opposing counsel subpoenas you?
They reach very little. There are no accounts, so there is no user directory to search. If your client never connected an attorney, we hold nothing about them at all. If they connected you, we hold entries encrypted to your public key and no key that opens them, so what we could produce is ciphertext. The timestamp authority holds SHA-256 hashes, not content. We require valid legal process and will notify the affected person before responding unless we are forbidden to. None of which touches what your client can be made to produce themselves, which is the question that actually decides the matter.
Does this replace OurFamilyWizard or TalkingParents?
No. Those are communication platforms, frequently court-ordered, and shared with the other parent. Documented is the private record your client keeps alongside whatever is mandated. It sends no messages and involves no one else.
What do you store, and what happens if you shut down?
Entry contents reach our servers only as ciphertext encrypted to your key; we cannot read them. The original stays on your client's device, and they can export at any time. Because the export carries its own audit trail, it verifies without us; a record made with Documented does not stop being checkable if Documented does.
