Does the other parent see any of this?
No. Documented is yours alone. The other parent is never invited, never notified, and never gets an account, because there is nothing for them to log into. This is not a shared co-parenting app and does not try to be one. Nothing you write leaves your phone unless you export it and hand it over yourself.
What does it cost?

If you get to the end of the trial and decide not to subscribe, nothing you have already written is taken away. Your entries stay on your phone, and you can still open, search and verify every one of them. What stops is adding new entries and exporting, until you subscribe. We will not hold a record you may need in a live matter behind a payment.
Where do my entries actually live?
On your device, and synced through your own iCloud account, so a lost phone does not lose the record. They are not stored on our servers and we cannot read them. The one thing that leaves your phone when you seal an entry is a hash, a short fingerprint that cannot be turned back into what you wrote, and it goes to the timestamp authority rather than to us.
What can go into an entry?
Text, photos, video, voice notes, receipts, and screenshots of message threads. Voice notes are transcribed on the device, so you can search what you said without typing it up. Receipts are read for the amount and the date so you are not copying numbers by hand.
What stops the other side saying I wrote it all last week?
Two things, and they work together. Each entry is hashed into a chain, so changing an old entry breaks every entry after it and the break is visible. And each one gets a timestamp from DigiCert, an independent authority with no stake in your case, which is what makes the date something other than your word.
The useful part is not that the record cannot be altered. It is that altering it cannot be hidden.
Can I keep a record for more than one child?
Yes. Each child has their own record, and an entry is filed against the child it concerns. The export can cover one child or all of them.
Can I name people besides the other parent?
Yes. An entry can name anyone who was there: a grandparent, a teacher, a supervisor, a therapist, whoever’s relevant, each with their own role. You pick from common roles or type your own, and once an entry is sealed, the people on it are sealed too.
How do I give this to my attorney?
You export a PDF. Entries come out in order with the photos and files embedded, and the verification details laid out at the back so anyone can check the record has not been altered since you saved it. It is one file, ready to hand to your attorney, and you decide what date range it covers.
What if someone picks up my phone?
You can lock the app behind Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, separately from your phone's own lock. Someone holding an unlocked phone still does not get into your record.
Will this hold up?
We will not promise you that, and be careful of anyone who does. Whether a record helps depends on your case, your jurisdiction and your attorney, and Documented is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.
What we can say is what the record is. It is contemporaneous, which means written at the time rather than assembled once a hearing was scheduled, and that is the distinction judges tend to care about. It is tamper-evident, not tamper-proof: nothing can stop a file being edited, but this shows you when one has been.
